Bibliotheca Alexandrina Membership
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Membership allows users to access all the Library resources and premises (except museums). It offers an extensive collection of books, periodicals, newspapers, multimedia and networked electronic resources covering all fields of human knowledge in different languages.
To issue a Library membership, please head to the Membership Desk located in the main Library building, level (E) to fill out the membership form and submit the required papers, after which the membership will be received on the same day.
Membership Desk Hours
From Sunday to Thursday: 10.00 am - 4.00 pm.
Saturday: 10.00 am - 2.00 pm. The desk closed on Friday.

Required Documents:
Recent personal photo + valid ID card or passport.
Proof of study if the person is a student: university ID or registration statement from the university + filling out a personal data form from the BA Membership Desk.

Membership Renewal: The expired membership card should be delivered to the Membership Desk and the monthly or annual membership fee should be paid before receiving the new card. For students, a recent personal photo and proof of recent studies must be submitted.

- Getting access to all the services of the Main Library (except the Antiquities and Manuscripts Museums and the Planetarium Science Center).
- Membership cards can be used to reserve computers in the Main Library.
- Members can photocopy 20% of any book or 20% of 2 MA or PhD theses.
- “My Space” service is provided for annual membership card holders only."
- My Space” is a 30-megabyte personal electronic folder in which members can save their files. Files will be preserved as long as the member continues to sign in. In case of not accessing the files for more than 6 months, or in case of losing the membership card, members will not be able to access their files, bookmarks, or saved search history.
Note: A membership card can be obtained for the Main Library for students and non-students.

Researcher memberships are available to MA and PhD students, aged 16 and above.
Required Documents
Recent personal photo + valid ID card or passport + official statement from the university including the University Council's approval of the thesis topic, as follows:
For a master's degree: No more than three years since the date of the University Council's approval of the thesis subject, as of the date of submission of the statement.
For a doctoral degree: No more than five years since the date of the University Council's approval of the thesis subject, as of the date of submission of the statement.
Or a master's degree or doctoral degree + filling out a personal data form from the BA Membership Desk.
Proof of recent residence with the person's name and address to activate the external circulation.

Membership renewal: The expired membership card should be delivered to the Membership Desk and the monthly or annual membership fee should be paid before receiving the new card. Proof of recent studies must be submitted if continuing with the master's degree over a period that exceeds three years or a doctoral degree that exceeds five years. A water/electricity/gas bill should also be submitted for external circulation.

Replacement of Lost Membership Cards
|
- In the event of loss or theft of the membership card, the Library must be informed immediately to avoid misuse. The member will receive a replacement card by presenting his/her ID and paying EGP 50.
Note: In the case of monthly memberships, the required documents will be re-submitted for the issuance of a new membership.
